This study aims to analyze the educational function of museums as learning resources for cultural heritage-based local history instruction in schools. Museums serve not only as institutions for the storage and preservation of historical objects but also possess strategic potential as learning environments capable of providing students with concrete, contextual, and meaningful historical experiences. Utilizing museums in instruction aligns with educational requirements for processes that are interactive, inspiring, enjoyable, and challenging, while fostering active student engagement—principles emphasized in national education policy. This study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method. Data were gathered through the exploration and analysis of relevant literature, including books, scholarly articles, policy documents, and research findings concerning museums, local history instruction, learning resources, and cultural heritage preservation. The data were analyzed using a descriptive-interpretative approach to gain insight into the museum's contribution to the history learning process in schools. The findings indicate that museums play a significant educational role in enriching students' learning experiences through direct interaction with artifacts, documents, cultural heritage objects, and various representations of local history. Utilizing museums can boost learning interest, strengthen historical understanding, develop observational and critical thinking skills, and help students connect historical content with the cultural realities of their own environments. Furthermore, museum-based learning contributes to strengthening historical awareness, cultural identity, and student concern for the sustainability of local cultural heritage. Realizing the museum's educational function requires systematic instructional planning, teacher creativity, pedagogical use of collections, and collaboration between schools and museum management. Thus, museums can be positioned not merely as destinations for educational visits, but as strategic learning resources for developing contextual local history instruction that simultaneously supports cultural heritage preservation.
